If You Wouldn’t Trust A Do-It-Yourself Acupuncture Book…
Why Practice Do-It-Yourself Feng Shui?
by P.K. Odle, The Feng Shui Advantage
Imagine you’re at a lecture on Acupuncture and the presenter said… they’d developed the first a do-it-yourself Acupuncture system, would you buy it? Even though most of you know very little about how Acupuncture actually works… you know enough to avoid do-it-yourself Acupuncture. That’s exactly why you won’t find a do-it-yourself Acupuncture book in the local bookstore.
Unfortunately, very few realize that Feng Shui and Acupuncture are sister sciences with their roots in the Yi Jing or Book of Change (I Ching). Acupuncturists apply the wisdom of the Yi Jing to diagnose and treat the energy patterns in your body. Feng Shui applies the same 8 trigrams and 5 elements of the Yi Jing to diagnose and manage the energy patterns in the buildings where you spend the most time.
Acupuncturists must examine all possible variables to determine which needle placements are necessary for each individual patient. In fact, just because three people complain of back pain… it doesn’t mean that all three would require needles in the exact same places.
Like Acupuncture, there are far too many variables in Feng Shui to say that even one remedy is appropriate for the same placement in every building at all times. Determining which of the 5 elements is necessary as a remedy in each section of your building involves complex calculations, which have been passed on for centuries… not doing an inventory of your current belongings.
For instance…Fire colors in the South section in one building could improve children’s health, but they could contribute to eye and heart disease in the South section of another building. If you’re uncertain of the energy patterns of any section of your house… it’s not advisable to use Fire colors (red, purple, burgundy, maroon, mauve, pink & bright orange) because there’s a higher probability that they’ll cause disasters.
If Feng Shui was as simple as hanging a Bagua mirror over your door, it wouldn’t have been so highly guarded that the ancient Feng Shui Masters could be put to death if they were caught helping anyone outside the royal family. Actually, Bagua simply means 8 portions or sections, such as ‘Bagua Tai Chi’ which repeats the same 8 movements over and over again. Hanging a Bagua mirror with the symbols of the 8 trigrams of the Yi Jing over your door or laying it over your building’s floor plan was never its intended use. That type of Bagua is like a textbook with encoded information about universal energy patterns… not the energy blueprint of individual buildings.
Each section of your home and office has the potential to support or sabotage your Health & Relationships and/or to your Finances & Career, because there are 2 inherent energies in every section. At the time of construction these energy patterns develop according to the precise magnetic orientation of your building. Just like your bodies DNA, these energy patterns aren’t visible to the naked-eye, yet they are present from the moment the four walls and roof of your home/office were completed.
Just like the Yi Jing… Feng Shui and Acupuncture recognize that all energy patterns are not only unique, but constantly in a state of change. What changes is the visiting or Annual Feng Shui energy that interacts with the 2 inherent energies in every section of your home and office. Every year on the Chinese SOLAR New Year (4th or 5th of February)… there’s an Annual energy shift, which explains why some years are better than others in the same building. One year the Annual energy at your entrance could act as a remedy for the inherent energies and improve your circumstances that year… but the next year the visiting energy could act as a trigger to make a bad situation worse.
The deepest level of the ancient Xuan Kong calculations also reveals which ‘House Type’ the overall energy blueprint of the building falls under and when a building’s energy is ‘Locked.’ This determines if your house also requires outside remedies to release a ‘Lock’ or neutralize a ‘House Type’ that isn’t supportive to either People (health & relationships) and/or Money (finances & career). For more details about ‘Locks’ and ‘House Types’ read ‘5 Feng Shui House Types! Which Are You Living In?’
Feng Shui literally translated is Wind Water, which both move the Qi (Chi) or Universal Life Force Energy. Therefore, all remedies must be out in the open where the air currents can easily interact with them. The science aspect of Feng Shui reveals which elemental remedies are necessary, while the art aspect relates to how those remedies are implemented to blend with the décor of each room. No one should be able to distinguish your Feng Shui remedies from the rest of your accessories.
As far as door positions… in Classical Feng Shui there isn’t even a one-size-fits-all best door direction or location like a few of the popular Feng Shui books would lead you to believe. Actually, from the moment of your birth… you have a unique way of being influenced by the magnetic pull of planet Earth depending on if you’re male or female.
Your ‘Personal Directions’ determine which door position from the magnetic center of your home or office will bring you more money or drain away your savings. Unfortunately, barely 5% of Feng Shui experts world-wide can determine ALL of your 15˚ Personal Directions, such as your Analytical, Creative, Prosperous, Consuming and Lonely directions.
Whether you’ve occupied the same building for 20 years or you’ve recently moved, you can start managing the Feng Shui influences by making subtle changes in your environment to shift the energy in your building to support your efforts. There's no need to wait until the Chinese SOLAR New Year, since it's months away. Beginning in October each year, I include the up-coming year’s remedy changes for all new clients, as do a few other consultants.
When choosing a Feng Shui consultant… be sure to ask them if they work with the Xuan Kong energies and use the 5 elements as remedies. Also, verify that they’ll teach you where ALL your 45˚ and 15˚ Personal Directions are located in your current home. My unique 3-part report includes all of the above information, plus a diagram of ALL your Personal Directions, which you can use to identify them in any building anywhere in the world for the rest of your life.
Also, inquire if follow-up questions are included in the price of the consultations and if they offer annual updates. I find that most clients need additional guidance to be certain that they implement their necessary remedies correctly, which is why I keep a copy of your report to respond to follow-up questions and to be able to offer annual updates by mail.
